Für die Künstlerin Maria Justus war sofort klar, welche Thematik sie in ihrer Arbeit für die IHK aufgreifen wird: eine neoklassizistische Figurengruppe, die die bekannten Münchner Bildhauer Heinrich Düll und Georg Pezold einst für das Gabriel-von-Seidl-Haus entworfen hatten. Die sechs Skulpturen vor dem historischen Gebäude, einem der beiden Stammhäuser der IHK, sind alle im Zweiten Weltkrieg verschollen gegangen. Es gibt nur noch Fotos, die ihre einstige Existenz bezeugen.
Gemäss ihres Ansatzes, ihre Werke inhaltlich aus dem kollektiven Bildgedächtnis entstehen zu lassen, sind diese Skulpturen Ausgangspunkte für ihre künstlerische Intervention im Haus. Maria Justus rematerialisierte zwei davon, Mars und Venus, mit innovativen Technologien. Mittels KI wurden sie dreidimensional nachgeformt, und kleine Teile der Figuren blieben in der digitalen Gittermodelierung erhalten, um den Transformationsprozess sichtbar zu erhalten. Dies und die räumliche Gegenüberstellung von Venus und Mars, Frau und Mann, erweisen sich als ausgesprochen sensible, zerbrechliche Narrative.

For the artist Maria Justus, it was immediately clear which theme she would take up in her work for the IHK: a neoclassical group of figures that the well-known Munich sculptors Heinrich Düll and Georg Pezold had once designed for the Gabriel-von-Seidl-Haus. The six sculptures in front of the historic building, one of the IHK’s two main buildings, all went missing during World War II. Only photographs remain to attest to their former existence.
In accordance with her approach of letting her works emerge from the collective pictorial memory in terms of content, these sculptures are starting points for her artistic intervention in the building. Maria Justus rematerialized two of them, Mars and Venus, using innovative technologies. Using AI, they were remodeled three-dimensionally, and small parts of the figures were retained in the digital grid modeling to keep the transformation process visible. This and the spatial juxtaposition of Venus and Mars, woman and man, prove to be distinctly sensitive, fragile narratives.
